Our Science

What is HOCl?
Hypochlorous Acid, also known as HOCl, is a weak acid naturally produced by our white blood cells as a form of protection against germs, viruses, and bacteria. HOCl has been tested effective against Human Coronavirus. It also helps to promote wound healing.

It is able to penetrate the cell walls of pathogenic microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa and worms. This makes it a stronger disinfectant than bleach and alcohol.

The active ingredient in WODE is HOCl which comprises of Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Chlorine.
Where and how has HOCl been used?

HOCl has been approved by U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in wound, eye, veterinary care products. Hospitals in Japan have used HOCl to disinfect, and COVID-19 drive-through testing stations in South Korea use HOCl disinfectant in their clean zone booth for nurses to fully disinfect before going home. Swimming pools also use HOCl to disinfect pool water. Singapore National Environmental Agency has included WODE disinfectant water as a household product adequate for surface disinfection.

It has also been used in schools, medical facilities, factories, food processing plants, gyms, offices, hotels, water treatment plants, waste treatment plants, and more.

WODE® Disinfectants: HOCl

The most powerful ingredient in our disinfectants: Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl)
What makes WODE’s HOCl different?

HOCL - Effigerm

We produce our own HOCl inhouse as well as sourcing our own mineral water. This results in a stronger formulation & concentration, being more effective, as well as having a longer shelf life of 24 months compared to other brands. Our disinfectants are non-toxic, non-flammable, alcohol & chemical free. It is also safe for babies, the elderly and even pets. WODE has also passed the water toxicity test and passes as mineral water, making it safe around the eyes, nose, mouth and even accidental ingestion.
How is WODE HOCl Disinfectant Produced?

Hypochlorous Acid Collection – Base Laboratories

The raw materials used to manufacture WODE disinfectants are iodised salt and pure water. Through the process of controlled electrolysis of iodised salt and reverse osmosis pure water, WODE is able to produce Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl).  HOCl is the germicidal ingredient in WODE disinfectant due to its strong reducing power.
Why should you switch to WODE HOCl?

WODE HOCl

Using WODE household disinfectants do not require you to wear protective equipment such as eye googles, mask and gloves during cleaning, unlike using bleach which is corrosive and harmful to skin. No toxic fumes or harmful by-products are produced during and after cleaning.

WODE has no fragrance, thus it is suitable for individuals with respiratory issues. Individuals with respiratory issues should avoid scented bleach. Using WODE disinfectant does not require you to ventilate the area, as there is no potential chemical or health hazard.

WODE disinfectants provide a safe environment for children and pets after cleaning as no harmful chemicals are left behind. Soft surface disinfectant is made possible with WODE when washing is unavailable.
